In the new and exponentially exploding media world, barring some serious pmc censorship maneuvering, I think it’s so much more likely the illiberal authoritarians and their public figures will succeed at seeming like the more rational voice to many people, simply by sensationally demonstrating out how hypocritical and crazy libs are now, which isn’t hard to do. 100 percent...I want to tease these ideas out...graduate students aren't interested bc it won't get them jobs. I'm taking my seminar on the authoritarian personality on line.
Most of the people I know who love the Frankfurt School never talk about this study at all, and if gets mentioned then they try to take Adorno away from it.
I think a measure of Cuddihy's work needs to find its way into this discussion.
