Why don't people like to be helped after you've called them losers

I really want to write about aesthetic experience, tennis, love, sex, bad movies, but these articles keep getting in my way....

This article called “Compensate the Losers? Economic Policy and Political Re-alignment in the US” was featured in the New York Times today as another explainer about why the Democratic Party is losing working class voters of all races. They say they want to ‘center’ your voice, but you don’t like that! What’s wrong with you???

The economists in their surveys find that it all went wrong in 1976 with the rise of the New Democrats. I’ve been going on and on about the PMC and John and Barbara Ehrenreich’s article from 1977 when they saw the values of the college educated elite dominate not only the Democratic Party but most Left organizations.

Today, these organizations comprise NGOs, Left thinktanks and academia. The “Losers” paper finds that working class people prefer ‘predistributive’ policies like raising the minimum wage and federal jobs guarantees and trade protections rather than higher taxes and redistributive programs. This is fascinating. It’s also fascinating that people don’t like to be called losers and then ‘helped’ but that’s another problem I can’t solve.

I have to dig through all the numbers, but one of the study’s findings say sthat in the 1940s for every year of education a person received, there was 3 percent less change that person would vote Democrat. This trend was reversed in 1970, with wealthier and better educated Americans rushed to the Democratic Party and the working class moved toward the Republicans.

I blame the Dems’ war on the working class and its delusional idea that it can impose its identity vanguardism on ‘minority communities’ on their lack of appeal to the masses.

According to the oped, one of the authors said at a fun meeting of progressives, Dems need to be more fun and have better parties. It has been a long time since countercultural hedonism was the purview of liberals. They’re pursing their lips right now, tighter than their you know whats, wagging a finger at me about how I recycled wrong this morning. Can you imagine a Dem woman getting caught being horny on a date like Boebert at the theater? They would have stormed out of Beetlejuice because it was biased against Satanists. The more messagey something is the better for young Libs who are microdosing on a keto diet. In the meantime, Daddy’s getting tax breaks buying distilleries in Appalachia.
