Recently, the U.N.D.P. or U.N. Development Program released the results of a global survey about attitudes towards women and found — deeply entrenched biases against them, especially when considering women in leadership positions.
The U.N.D.P. which I had never heard of before today is a branch of the U.N. speaking super N.G.O. talk: they are connecting countries and people to “knowledge, experience and resources” so that they can build a better life.
They promote gender equality, human rights, and environmental resilience, and peacebuilding and you know whatever sounds vaguely good but doesn’t require economic redistribution, except through the U.N.D.P.'s carefully crafted mission. They want to end poverty….with something called “Signature Solutions.”
Why aren’t their signature solutions working?
Why is gender equality so hard to achieve when the U.N.D.P.’s website shows men watering plants and installing solar panels?
Why is life so hard for U.N. agencies?
Jeez…why did the Guardian just ‘report’ on these findings with little to no analysis of the mission of the U.N. group or its methodology?
