I have always wanted to write something about Joachim Trier’s film, The Worst Person in the World (2023), but I didn’t think I would be writing about it in light of Kamala Harris’ electoral defeat and the utter awfulness of second wave feminism and U.S. politics, but here it goes. Kamala Harris is not the worst person in the world. Hillary Clinton is not the worst person in the world either, although she is closer to winning that award. Second wave feminism, however, with its lovefest with the Professional Managerial Class meritocracy would like us to believe that successful women are the best people in the world. They are not. Is it American misogyny that defeated them? No. They were promoted by an endless parade of celebrities who kept touting their “extraordinary” accomplishments. Ordinary people like celebrities to be extraordinary, but they prefer their politicians to have a grain of the salt of the earth, even if that earth is loaded with toxic chemicals.
