I hope everyone is enjoying the heat of the summer.

Below the Paywall is the link to the Zoom invite for July 12, 8:30 am Discussion Group on Gangster Capitalism and also a link to Martha Nochimson’s book Dying to Belong: Gangster Movies In Hollywood and Hong Kong. For paid subscribers, I think being part of the CLiuAnon community is good value.

There have been a lot of complaints about Substack: the sheer amount of writing is overwhelming, everyone is trying to sound the New Yorker. I write a lot, and I publish elsewhere a lot. For me CLiuAnon is about a dialogue with a community of people on the Left trying to find a way forward. This is why we are building in more IRL meetups, events, and continuing with the reading groups. I like reading long form stuff on paper and I hope you do too.
