The destruction of a canon of shared aesthetic and critical primary texts and the promotion of activism and vibes over intellectual life have produced a very strange atmosphere in academia. Symptoms listed below in no particular order. Content is for paid subscribers who are part of the CLiuAnon community.

The mission of Universities have been irreparably damaged and we see its effects in the curriculum and intellectual life of every University. First of all, pretending that everything we (I mean PMC liberals in the institutions of higher learning) do and say is somehow “speaking truth to power” has made us unable to face the truth of power. We should have executed a vote of no confidence in our Chancellor, but instead, he still makes 834K a year and is yelling at the top of his lungs on Zoom about how there is no such thing as First Amendment Protection for academics. He LOVES to talk about limits to academic freedom and the need for viewpoint diversity right now, so he is our Right Wing boss.
